Canavan Disease Research and Family Conference Held Locally

Thirty researchers and seventeen families from around the world met at the Renaissance Marriott in Harrison, June 3rd-5th to “talk about new treatments on the horizon for Canavan’s Disease, which we are excited about,” said Sarah Goshman, Assistant Director of Jacob’s Cure, the non-profit foundation initiated by Jordana Holovach, Jacob’s mother, to find a cure.

Jacob's Cure Raises Over $1 Million Dollars in 2010

HARRISON, N.Y. - Jacob's Cure, which was founded by Harrison native Jordana Holovach,  announced it had raised roughly $1,747,000 in contributions in an annual report. The non-profit organization has continued to grow each year since its start in 2000 through noteworthy events and fundraisers.

Patients with Canavan Disease came to Harrison from all around the world this weekend to participate in the Jacob's Cure research summit at The Renaissance Marriott. The weekend kicked off with a welcome dinner in the Hudson Room of the hotel on Friday night for all the families.

Tom Cruise Ready to Rock: Guess Who May Be Joining Him

American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis originated the role on Broadway.  He continues to play him in the national touring company, which happens to open on Feb. 15 at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.  Two nights later, the show will host a benefit for Jacob's Cure, a nonprofit that raises funds to help cure Canavan disease, a fatal genetic disorder that affects children at birth.
